Lisa | Vance | Hi I loved my stay in Lahr! I was in Germany twice before that, but don't really remember any of those visits. My dad commanded 4CMBG, and we lived in a German Neighbourhood, not in the PMQ's. I attended grade 5&6. I lived near Area 2, and used to ride my bike to the trasenbahd swimming pool in the Summer. I probably spelled that wrong! We were near the Stahd park too! We used to walk to area 2 to hang out with the kids from there. I remember Jeannie Lawrence! | January 10, 2008 |
Harry | Elliott | Excellent website. We share an interesting culture as the Cold War Canadian kids of the Ruhr through the Berlin Wall construction and the Cuban Missile crisis. The global community is getting closer and our history more condensed. Harry | January 9, 2008 |
Marilyn | Write | Love the photo pages, and the guest book is a great means to find buddies. Anyone know anything about Gerry (Geraldine) and Mary Desjardins from Soest 59-62? I've just connected with Harry Elliott and Sandy Ferris through Classmates.com any news on Soester reunion out east---or BC? | January 9, 2008 |
Keven | McNeil | Dad was Cpl Donald James DJ McNeill Signals or a mechanic We lived on Ahornallee I was born in 62, I remember Teresa Cowig, sneaking under the fence at the pool and an orphanage that was close by. These pics have given me flashbacks and the memories are coming back. | December 26, 2007 |
Marg | MacQuarrie | My Father was the Protestant chaplain at Ft. York and Ft. Chambly at the time. We lived in the Soest PMQs. My two sisters, Marilyn and Ainslee, and my brother, Ian, all have wonderful memories of those years. We loved the Christmas Eve services with the choir descending the outside of the onion tower and the fun fair rides. I used to go and visit a horse that lived in the fields nearby. Does anyone else remember older German men shaking their fists at us when we walked by and they would sometimes yell at us? I would particularly like to hear from Mary Desjardins who was in my Grade 7 class in 1960-1961 and later moved to Ottawa and went to the same school (Bell High School) as I did from 1962-1963. This is a wonderful site. Thank you. | December 26, 2007 |
David K. | Dorward | I would love to hear from anyone I was at school with in Soest. I have very fond memories of Soest and my time there. Great site, great memories. David Dorward Caledon East, Ontario. | December 25, 2007 |

Stephen | Lock | I was just mentioning to a correspondent (a former Werl guy) that, even still, what brings back the feeling of Christmas for me is remembering all the church bells in Soest pealing, filling the air downtown with the sound of bells, the snow falling softly and blanketing the old inner city so that it looked like a fairy tale town, attending the Weihnachten Fair and smell of chestnuts and sweets in the air, and of going down to the square by the Petri Kirche (the Lutheran church across from the Cathedral) Christmas Eve to watch and listen as the church choir made their way down from the top of the onion spire, holding candles, and singing In Excelsis Gloria as the snow gently wafted down. Now THAT was Christmas!! Merry Christmas everyone, Frohliche Weihnacht, und Grusse fuer die Neue Jahr!! | December 22, 2007 |

Jacquiline | Gore | I'm glad to find this site. Being an army girl I moved around so much and my past seems lost in the sands of time. Doesn't seem real sometimes. So it is nice to reconnect a little like this. | December 1, 2007 |
