Can't believe the pictures that are posted. Found my class picture from 1963-64 year book. Class 7A. I actually remember some of the faces but can't put many names to them. I remember the Teen Club and the little place where we got fries, "Hole in the Wall" I think it was called. I will check back often. Remember some of the names and loved seeing the pics of shack 21 were I lived before the wife and kids arrived. October 22, 2009 Kemp Stewart Cindy, Randa, David and myself only lived in Hemer from September 1960 to October 1961. Our father Major Allen B. Stewart was the 2i/c 3 RCHA was promoted and sent back to Rivers Manitoba as the Deputy Commandant Canadian Joint Air Training Centre (CJATC). October 17, 2009 Gary Turner 40 years ago today, at about this time of day (1730hrs), my mom, sister, brother and I boarded a Yukon at Trenton to fly over to Dusseldorf to rejoin my father, Sgt. Reg Turner, 2PPCLI. My first time on an airplane, stuck in a window seat beside one of those massive turbo-props! For me, it was the start of a three year adventure, certainly the most life altering event I've had. I can't fathom how forty years has vanished, the memory of boarding the Yukon is crystal clear. We were only in the Hemer area nine months before moving down south to Baden after Mr. Trudeau's forces experiment. We lived in a beautiful old stone house overlooking the Sorpesee out in Langscheid. I had no idea the site was here. I will be visiting it again frequently. It inspired me to pull out my yearbooks and reminisce today. I realize how fortunate I was to spend 3 years in such a beautiful little town and to have had the opportunity to meet such nice friends. I live in Kitchener, ON now and would love to get in touch with some of those nice friends again. September 27, 2009 Doug Anderson I was fortunate to be one of the many young men whose lives changed considerably during our tour of Germany in the 60's. We were naive as to the world events taking place at the time and how close we were to "Armageddon" in 1962. We continued to train and "play" and have memories today that will always be special. September 20, 2009 Michele Eagles I was so thrilled to be told of this site, and have spent several hours walking down memory lane. Sadly I have yet to see any names that ring a bell in the guest book , but the annuals were fantastic to look through. I have been in contact with Jim Kerr in Toronto, and know that Bram Fisher lives in my home town of Kingston, ON, and Paul Titterton has been living in Scotland for the past 44 years. I would love to track down some others, like Susan Westfall, Jane MacIsaac. Sheila Reynolds, Elaine Morrison, Don Bowan, or anyone else from back then. So many of you have said it was the best days of your life, and I agree 100%. Have been back twice and will visit again in 2010 with my brother David, and my sister Lynn. Can't wait!
