40 years ago today, at about this time of day (1730hrs), my mom, sister, brother and I boarded a Yukon at Trenton to fly over to Dusseldorf to rejoin my father, Sgt. Reg Turner, 2PPCLI. My first time on an airplane, stuck in a window seat beside one of those massive turbo-props! For me, it was the start of a three year adventure, certainly the most life altering event I've had. I can't fathom how forty years has vanished, the memory of boarding the Yukon is crystal clear. We were only in the Hemer area nine months before moving down south to Baden after Mr. Trudeau's forces experiment. We lived in a beautiful old stone house overlooking the Sorpesee out in Langscheid. What a change from row housing PMQs across from Downsview in Toronto!
