Patrick Muise My dad (merle pineo) was with the RCEME corps. and passed away in 2001 of April in nova Scotia. I have so enjoyed looking at all the pictures. Makes one home sick for Hemer and friends I use to know. if Chris pfenghanssel reads this I would like it if she replied to my Email. you all have done a great job in giving people of days gone by a chance to view into our past. pat December 28, 2003
David Pineo My sister Pat and I have just spent the last few hours over the holidays looking at this site. She stumbled on it by accident and told me about it. Can't seem to find school pix of her or our brother Stephen, though. It is kind of surreal looking at all these pictures - it's like looking at someone else's life. Almost a little creepy. Good to see someone was willing to take on this project. You've done a fine job. I wish Dad Merle Pineo) was still here to see it. Thanks for this. Dave December 28, 2003
Chris McNee I regret to pass on the passing of my father in law. Arthur McNutt. He died on 28 Nov 2003 in hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick after a short but painful battle with lung cancer. He loves being in the Black Watch and always used to tell me storied of how hard you guys had it back then. He really missed all of his army buddies. MCpl Chris McNee 2 RCR December 27, 2003

Ted Wood Wonderful to read the memories. Pictures are great reminders of those good times. I married a young lady from Werl and the ties with the Ruhr sites are still as strong as ever. Even hear from many of our German friends who I worked with in those days. And, the links with a lot of the soldier/announcer- types are still very strong, thanks to a good friend of mine, a supporter of Radio CAE contacts, even to this day - Eroc from Breckerfeld, and Manfred in Dortmund. Those great times are not forgotten. December 7, 2003

Dana Hawes My sister called me to tell me about this wonderful site! I was in grades 4&5 but have great memories. The MLS, riding our scooters to the east and west Belgique. My dad was with the LDSH is well at 75 years and lives in Sooke. He married Pat Smith (teacher) that he met in Germany (the reason our stay was only 2 years) I live on Gabriola Island. Debra Lawson I stumbled across this site and what a great trip down memory lane! Everything came rushing back and it was almost like being there again! Little Canada and the MLS were our hang outs back then. What fun we had growing up on Breslauer Strasse in Hemer. Sliding down the German hill on cardboard in the winter and getting lost in the graveyard in the forest. And always cutting through the Felsenmeer to head to the base and see the movies every Saturday. I'd love to go back and see it again! October 29, 2003
Penny Anderson Wow!! I have never been back to Hemer, nor have I ever seen any pictures. The photos brought back fond memories of life as a little kid in Hemer: soft strawberry ice-cream at the MLS, 1/2 a piece of Juicy Fruit gum from the black bus driver!, a cemetery at the top of a hill close to Breslauer Strasse, cobblestone roads on the way to the Peugeot Bike shop (they gave out free hats!!) and so on!! The only names of kids I remember are: Alison Bird, Jasmine Pearson, Mark Bastien, Mark Luscombe, the Van Noords and my Gr. 1 teacher, Miss Taylor and Gr. 2 teacher, Mrs. Fernland. I would love to hear from anyone that remembers me or any of my siblings, Billy, Kathy and Alan! October 25, 2003

Have two grown girls and 2 sweet grandgirls. XOXO October 13, 2003

Shelly Getz-Sheard October 9, 2003
Mike MacAdams This is a great web site. It is nice to see all the names of people that we grew up with and had and share so many lasting memories with. Being a teenager in Germany in the sixties was a great learning experience. The chance to be able to play hockey and do the traveling that we did was something that gives a person a lifetime full of memories that can only be shared with the people that were there as outsiders don't realize what it was like. Being in Berlin for a hockey tournament when it was a divided city and seeing the wall and now so many years later it is once again one city. This is something a person will always have to remember. Anyone out there that remembers me drop me a line anytime. October 3, 2003
C. A. Beler Wonderful experience September 25, 2003
Wayne MacKeigan I was an army brat..living my teenage life in Germany 13 - 16.Fell in love twice..got in trouble many times. But it was a great place. There are just a few that I still have the privilege of keeping in touch with. I wish there was more. September 20, 2003

Morris Henderson Visiting this site and other Hemer sites attached brings back memories. Some of the names ring a bell but its the places, chocolate creampuffs and other 'things' that get the memories going. We lived on Schutzenstrasse (an apartment building with four families) away from the PMQs and other Belgique. Some of you may remember my older sister Barb. Dad went back to Germany - Lahr for 1972-1975. My younger siblings Kathy, Kevin and Susan would have been teenagers then. Thanks to those that keep the site together and growing. August 12, 2003
