Well now!! What a pleasant surprise to run across this fine site. I have many memories of both postings to Germany and I would relocate in a Heartbeat. My first tour was sure a learning experiance, just to get ready for the second one, I have no regrets "that's" for sure. It was very nice to see other Familiar names in this guestbook ie Harry Purdy, Bill Cortice. That is it from here thank's to your site management for this opportunity. (Art Et Marte) Hap
Great Website! Can't remember the names of the schools, grade 3 was on the base and then grade 4 & 5 in the PMQ's/ Pictures brought back lots of memories.
It was the best years of my career and wish it was still available to our serving members. I would love to hear from people that served in Fort Victoria.
This site has brought back so many memories -- we were so lucky to have the time and experiences over there. I was attached out with 2RCR shortly after the posting to Fort Henry. Didn't like that too much at first, but with time it was great. Seems so long ago. Thanks for setting up such a great site.
Just want to say how much my wife and I enjoyed our 3 years in Germany. Being a new unit (SSM BTY) we were away from home a great deal of the time, therefore making it difficult for our family's. but we persevered and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was made much easier because of the great people that we had in the unit. We did some travelling and I was lucky enough to be sent on course to England, so did some travelling there as well.
Just started to look at this site after L. Sandwith highlighted it. It sure brings back some memories. I'll see if I have some pictures in my archives that I can send along.
What a great 4 years, I ran the main switchboard (Korbecke Military) in Fort Henry. Seen the closure of all Forts until we finally were only one in Fort Chambly and was on the second last flight out on July 07,1971. Learned to sail on the Mohnee See with the Brit Sailing Club. I coached kids hockey and girls softball and my wife Karen was one of the star pitchers in the ladies league. Children Kelly & Tim still have fond memories of Soest and especially of some of our German friends. Thanks to all for a great experience--- The Murphy Family
FANTASTIC site. Sure brings back great memories of a terrific gang to serve with... beautiful country and friendly people. Made my day finding this site.
Talk about bring back memories! The two years that I spent in Germany with 1 SSM were great for both my wife and myself, lots of memories! Great website and I still have more touring to do! Thanks for your efforts in putting this website together. Sandy Sandwith
A great site! It brings back loads of memories! I will check back often to see new entries to the guest book, I am sure there will be many! Keep up the good work.
I became a Soldier and Tradesman during those three years. They were exciting years and my memories continue to be very vivid of this exciting time in my Military career.
Brings back many memories - came over from Canada single and married in 1969 to a German girl in Hemer and Fort McLoed Chapel - still married. Moved south to Lahr with the Advance Party and lived in Area 33. Again - Great Site!!
Great site and it brought back lots of memories, some good and some not so good. Some of you kids were awful mouthy but what the hay. Glad to see that someone has put this site up. Ken

I was given this site by my good friend darrell hensrud who I lost contact with after 1970 having transferred to the Correctional Services Canada. As fate would have it we were living 6 km apart, me in agassiz and darrell in rosedale, b.c. We just met two months ago at the legion in agassiz. quite a reunion. this site has brought back a lot of good memories and I have some of the same pictures. hope to hear from some old friends.
