My late father served originally with the 2RCHA; then transferred to the Service Corps; and finally to the new Service Battalion. We lived in Hemer from October 1957 until November 1960 when my father was transferred back to CFB Gagetown in New Brunswick. I have really clear memories of my time in Hemer...Mr. Herbert, the principal, Miss Tobin, my teacher, Mr Millitic (sic), the Vice Principal who was reprimanded for batting me across the head after I had, during line-up, tosed some garbage into a garbage can, and lastly a really wonderful teacher...I think his name was Potter (not sure about the name) but he had had polio in his youth and could & did perform on the high rings using his well-muscled arms. I remember a lot also about the town, Iserlohn, Delinghofen, the Forts, etc. A memorable time indeed!

Just wondering if the nickname Boots means anything to you?
