Arrived in Germany at 18 years of age in 1957 green as they come right out of the Ottawa Valley. Departed in 1971 as one of the last to close out 4 CMBG, in fact Tom Murchison BGen Gardner and Howie Pierce pulled the flag down for the last time. A tear rolled down my face thinking of all those years and the memories. If Canadians only knew how many of her lads grew up in this place we called home for so long. Yes some of my buddies didn't make it back home, but I can still see them for they never grow old. I can recall a New Years night standing guard at a TDM dump, guarding ammo in the rain and thinking to myself what to Hell am I doing here. I must have liked it because I kept coming back.
