There are probably a number of documents that left a mark on our memories. How about the ration card? What other documents do you remember?
- Passenger Vehicle Operator’s Licence
- Gas Ration Card 1970
- Military Pass
- Temporary Pass Fort Prince of Wales 1962
- Ration Card 1971
- Motor Vehicle Registration 1970
- Identification Card
- RARY Pass 1965
We were in the first group of families in 1953
PMQ’s were just bring built when we arrived
We lived in a hotel in a British leave center for quite a while in Winterberg
There were five girls in the family
Three teens and two toddlers.
My mother and I arrived in Iserlohn in October 1954 – my father had flown ahead in July. Hemer PMQs wer being built so he had arranged for us to board with a British serviceman and his family in Iserlohn – I think their surname was Devoil but memory is uncertain since I was only 9. We moved into our PMQ in January 1955 and were bused to a temporary school in Deilinghofen until Hemer military school was ready – maybe September 1955?
On the page http://www.ruhrmemories.ca/ruhrnostalgia/documents/ I notice that the “RARY Pass” is actually just a Temporary Pass but with an oversized photo of the holder 🙂
