My dad was in Public Relations for the Canadian Armed Forces and reported for The Beaver, while my mother worked for Radio Canada International. We lived in the PMQs and a young German woman named Gisela lived with us and looked after my brother and sister and I. I believe she had relatives in Vellinghausen. We went over to Germany on the SS Empress of France in mid December 1957. Quite a trip 🙂 I was 8 years of age and we left Germany to come back to Canada in November of 1960.
